LEFT WINTER presents a new visual and sound installation at PAPER. Based on the study of lifeless insects and their space of internment, trapped and drained, their empty bodies lay as remains suspended and forgotten in time.
His photographic based study of the broken and mummified remnants of insects reveals what’s left behind in their dusty, silk graves. Beautifully captured and printed, his images reveal the dumped shells of mother nature’s crime scene, tucked away in the corners of a once busy, but now long neglected, human space. As life time-lapsed around them, for decades these entomological forensics have acted as cold witnesses, lying undisturbed with the passing of time, serving as markers that invite viewers to consider the passing of our everyday existence.

A new composition of music, written for the scene, is cinematic in its scale, forming a continual immersive audio element throughout the exhibition. The music, by the exhibition title of Silk Graves, will also be released as a single on June 10th.

About Left Winter
Left Winter is a cross-disciplinary artist and composer based in Manchester and Berlin, inspired by the stories, romance and fiction of people and places, both real and imagined. Immersive audio visual works made up of electronic compositions, field recordings and monochrome photography are produced from periods of collaboration, research and travel, which aim to transport audiences into temporary alternative narratives and spaces. He has exhibited photography works across the North West, performed commissioned work at 48 Hours Neukölln and is signed to independent record label No Such Thing.
