For The Manchester Contemporary this year, PAPER will present three artists whose focus in our relationship to nature, and particularly the animal kingdom. Rui Matsunaga using the myths and folklore of her native Japan to discuss our headlong rush into a dystopic future. Sharon Leahy Clark is inspired by exploring ideas of the unconscious and Surrealist ideas of 'free thinking'. The symbolism of the horse is prominent in this new series of works as she explores process and the materiality of the medium. Ruby Tingle is an artist/musician/performer and will perform through the Saturday of the art fair. Her collages are rooted in natural history and aim to present an alternate folklore where boundaries between human and animal are obscured.
